The project

The Municipality of Ayas funded and launched in 2022 a project called Ayas Open-Air Museum, implementing specific initiatives aimed at enhancing the historical, cultural, and anthropological heritage of its villages, in order to make it accessible to new generations as well as to the many tourists and visitors.

With this objective in mind, initiatives were launched involving the development of a real and virtual information network designed as cultural signage, through the creation of explanatory panels to be installed locally in the villages and connected to in-depth content and information on the new shared website, which for Ayas complements projects already underway in the area.

Ayas Open-Air Museum was developed by professionals specialized in cultural signage design and educational communication, with the supervision of experts deeply engaged in the study of the valley’s heritage, gathered in a Scientific Committee.

Thanks to funding from Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, it became possible to expand the project to the entire Val d’Ayas.

Little by little, Val d’Ayas Open-Air Museum will be completed through ongoing research work and, with the help of residents and all those who visit and love this valley, it will be possible to begin a new phase of comprehensive enjoyment of the heritage that characterizes it.
